We Dance
‘Nosaltres’ (We) is the name of a show featuring locals from different neighbourhoods in the city.
The community project Barris en dansa, an initiative by the Iliacán company, is now at the final phase of a new edition, and the participants are ready to show off the work done between September and December last year. A couple of shows already took place in January, though we have a few more performances to look forward to in February: on Sunday 4 February at Ateneu Popular 9 Barris, on 17 and 18 February at La Caldera Les Corts, and on 24 and 25 February at Teatre Ovidi Montllor.
Nosaltres (We – the use of the first person plural is significant) is a contemporary dance spectacle performed by non-professionals – local people of different ages and backgrounds from various neighbourhoods in Barcelona – who came together to share and represent on stage their fears and feelings of brotherhood and respect, with all of their rich human diversity.
Álvaro de la Peña is the director of Nosaltres, a production by La Caldera, a centre for the creation of dance and the performing arts, with the participation of Sínia Centre Ocupacional and Escola de Músics JCP, and the collaboration of a number of the city’s associations, entities and institutions.
