Waltzes and dances with the best violinist of the 21th century in the Palau de la Música

Gilles Apap and the Vallès Symphony Orchestra display their repertoire of virtuosity and joy on December 19

As every end of year, the Palau de la Música brings the optimism and energy of the waltzes and polkas of the Strauss, family, and large parts of Central European folk music, in the Festival de valsos i danses, an iconic quote and unavoidable with the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès.

Following the melodies of the Algerian Gilles Apap, hailed as the most authentic violinist of the century, the spell of the circular dances will be combined with his great ability to unite solo classical and folk music.

Apap was raised in Nice, where he began studying violin at the Conservatory of Music. After years of progression, he traveled to the United States and settled in California, where he continues to live. After being recognized as a great talent by famous Yenuhi Menuhin in 1985, the violinist won several awards and was part of several groups, until he established his style in classical music scene, with unique interpretations of classics, arranged for violin, viola, bass and guitar and mixed with traditional folk melodies.

The Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès was founded in 1987 and soon was structured as a labor limited company, where workers are owners as well. Its activities are centered in the city of Sabadell, and have always been present in the Catalan musical circuit, receiving the 1992 National Music Prize, awarded by the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the Medal of Honor 2012 of the city of Sabadell.

The cycle Simfònics al Palau reaches a peak in the afternoon of December 19, when the pace of the ballroom dances by Johann Strauss father and Johan Strauss son aspire to melodic and moving heavens, with the conjugate talent of the great violinist and the Catalan orchestra, that will make us enjoy while they remind us about the circularity of life and the circularity of waltz.
