Volmir Cordeiro and Air-Condition: the avant-garde of movement
The Sâlmon Festival and Experience MACBA come together to offer two multidisciplinary performances
One of the season’s most avant-garde initiatives continues to forge ahead with its dance programme: the Mercat de les Flors cycle Sâlmon, a festival in which dance and multiple performing arts disciplines take centre stage. And this festival is now teaming up with the Experience MACBA programme of scenic art and music events to create a double bill that can be seen at the MACBA building in Plaça dels Àngels.
One part of this double bill consists of the performance Rue by Volmir Cordeiro, which is based on short poems and epigrams by Bertolt Brecht. The idea here is to offer a body to the poetry in order to allow it to take to the stage. When recited, the poem generates new images and meanings – a mechanism that the performance attempts to foment.
The second piece is Respirar es arder (To Breathe is to Burn), a project by the Air-Condition collective. The idea behind this performance is to show air as an element that makes up part of our individual and collective lives. The performers appearing on stage in this performance are Iñaki Álvarez and Martí Sales. Respirar es arder and Rue are scheduled to be performed in the MACBA museum atrium at 7pm on 3 December.
