The vocal virtuosity of Diane Reeves, in the Teatre Coliseum

Reeves is one of the foremost female jazz voices of our time and will offer a one-off concert on Friday the 15th of May as part of the Round About Midnight Festival

Since the month of March the Teatre Coliseum has been hosting, for the third year running, the Round About Midnight Festival. This series of concerts features top artists in their genre, headliners at the top international music festivals, and offers finely-tuned acoustics and optimum conditions for audiences to enjoy the artists’ interpretive talents in an intimate, personal atmosphere.

On Friday the 15th of May the theatre will play host to North American jazz singer Dianne Reeves, considered by many to be finest jazz and R&B singer performing today, thanks to her stunning virtuosity, improvisational skills and the unique manner with which she approaches the music.

Discovered by trumpet player Clark Terry when she was just 16 years old and still at school, Dianne Reeves began her professional career in the 80s in California. In 1982 she published her first recording, Welcome to My Love, which was shortly followed by For Every Heart, in 1984, and the homonymous album Dianne Reeves, released in 1987 on the prestigious jazz label Blue Note.

Since then Reeves has recorded a number of albums and has toured the USA accompanied by a long list of renowned musicians and artists. Her talents have led to her winning five Grammy Awards, the last of which was awarded to her just a few months ago in February of this year for the Best Jazz Vocal Album for Beautiful Life, in which she fuses elements of Rhythm & Blues, Pop and Latin stylings.

Her latest album includes covers of songs by Bob Marley, Fleetwood Mac, Marvin Gaye and Ani Di Franco.
