Recitals, workshops and literary walking tours are all on the festival programme, which also sees the participation of the Ateneu Barcelonès.

Folgueroles, the hometown of Jacint Verdaguer, one of the best known Catalan poets of all time, and Barcelona have been working together since 10 May on the Verdaguer Festival, an annual event designed to commemorate the birth of the poet that aims to promote his work and legacy in a variety of ways.

In Barcelona, the venues that will host the bulk of activities is MUHBA Vil·la Joana, Casa Verdaguer de la Literatura, which is the house where he spent the last years of his life and where he died. On the 18 May it will host a workshop titled Rapping Verdaguer by Pau Llonch, and two days later it can be explored on a guided visit led by Oriol Izquierdo titled The Power of Verdaguer. The actor Lluís Soler will recite the poem Canigó in the house on 27 May, while a nature/literary walking itinerary titled The Plants and Animals that Inspired Verdaguer will set off from the house on 2 June. Five days later, Gemma Sangerman will be perfroming a literary spectacle, and finally, on 10 June, singer-songwriter Roger Mas will perform a concert with songs he composed based on Verdaguer’s verses. Meanwhile, on 26 Mat there will be a guided visit to Ateneu Barcelonès titled Literature and Verdaguer. Other planned activities are a one-day outing on 3  June, calling in at both MUHBA Vil·la Joana and the Casa-Museu Verdaguer in Folgueroles, and, on 10 June, a tribute to Verdaguer at the Cementiri de Montjuïc.
