"Venice, Birmingham, Barcelona", on the 2nd of June

The Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música, in Sant Felip Neri church

The three cities of the title are merely a reference to the cities that were the origins of the pieces that will be interpreted. Andrea Gabrieli, the 16th century composer and organist, is the author of the Magnificat for 4 voices, and O magnum mysterium, and was the first internationally renowned member of the Venetian School of Composers. The Mass in G Minor, by Ralph Vaughan Williams, on the other hand, has strong ties to Birmingham. The triangle is completed with the inclusion in the programme of a handful of pieces by Catalan composers, among them Carlos Gumí, with his piece titled Pax, the young composer Oriol Cruixent, with Am Meer, and Joan Guinjoan who will be performing Encara és temps de somiar? Encara for the first time.

The evening in the Sant Felip Neri church represents the last in the series of concerts performed by the Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana. Josep Vila i Casañas directs and David Malet will be playing the organ.
