“Urbanitaz”, in the Versus Teatre

The play, a rambunctious comedy about the world of nightlife, is staged by the JUJA Teatre company and can be seen up until the 8th of September

Night-time and the big city are the protagonists of Urbanitaz, a zany comedy that can be seen from the 22nd of August to the 8th of September in the Versus Teatre, Barcelona, who have once again chosen to promote upcoming authors. T

he play is based around a night-time radio programme that is aired from midnight to 6 am and where insomniac listeners call in to talk about their insecurities, their misfortunes and everything that nobody else seems to want to listen to. With this as a starting point, the play rapidly evolves into a journey into the darkest, most absurd and preternatural corners of night-time in a big city.

Urbanitaz
continues the tradition of cavalier, ironic and politically incorrect stagings by the JUJA Teatre company, which was formed in 2000 by Juan Andrés González and Jano de Miguel, former students of the Valencia School of Dramatic Arts, ESAD. Their origins can be traced to pubs and live entertainment cafes, and to performances based around corrosive, critical humour that doesn’t mince its words.
