An updated Catalan Book Week is here again

The fair will take place on Avinguda de la Catedral from 2 to 11 September

Catalan Book Week is about to celebrate its 34th annual edition on Avinguda de la Catedral de Barcelona from 2 to 11 September. This year, the fair will attract some 150 exhibitors and feature no fewer than 232 activities – 198 for adults and 34 for children. The fair will also feature 150 new book launches and host 170 authors signing their books.

This edition will also sport a new look, with stands that reference the stalls at Santa Caterina Market. It’s also the 20th anniversary of the Trajectòria Award, which the jury has decided to give to the translator Anna Casassas, who will receive it during a special ceremony on Wednesday 7 September at 7.45pm.

Among the activities on offer at the fair are days devoted to a particular theme – with days devoted to the Valencian autonomous community, to Catalan language press and magazines, to education, and to the figure of Ramon Llull. Visitors to the fair will also have the opportunity to take part in 13 literary routes that will allow them to explore the city through its literature, and a bus route that will tour the top literary sites in Barcelona. Each day of the fair will close with a poetry recital and music.
