On 3 February, a number of Barcelona's museums will open up their store rooms, reserved spaces and workshops to the public.
The registrations begin today 22 January, and if you want to take part we recommend that you sign up as soon as possible, given the success of the first edition of this event, which was held last December. We're talking about iN MUSEU, an initiative by a number of different museums in the city which, for one day, gives visitors access to areas that are usually restricted to the museum's staff. These areas include store rooms and restoration workshops, which can be visited in the company of a member of staff or a specialised guide who will explain the duties of the museum's personnel and aspects concerning the restoration of the exhibits.
The date is Saturday 3 February, and eleven museums are taking part: the Museum of the History of Barcelona (MUHBA), the MUHBA Collections Centre, El Born CCM, the Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes, the Frederic Marès Museum, the Barcelona Design Museum, the Ethnological Museum of Barcelona, the Museum of World Cultures, Montjuïc Castle, the Nature Laboratory, the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona and the Museum of Music. The aim of this initiative is to promote these platforms for the dissemination of Catatonia's culture and heritage while providing a way to get a better understanding of the opinions of their visitors.
