Unique Visitors, an application that enhances the experience of visiting museums
This cultural app was one of the selected projects in the last CreatiFI program, co-led by the Institute for Culture
One of the projects involved in the CreatiFI program, co-led by the Institute of Culture of the City of Barcelona, was Unique Visitors, an app that helps us find custom routes for museums. With this application you can find different routes depending on what interests you the most: You can visit the museum as a family, choose to see the masterpieces or make a visit in depth. "It's about seeing the museum by the hand of a person that makes you recommendations, an expert or a friend that loves of the arts. In addition to the suggested route, you can also create your own and share it with other visitors," explains Ana Luisa Basso, from Unique Visitors.
"There are many apps that want to enhance the experience of visiting museums, but what we've found is that they are usually restricted to reproducing the traditional audio guides, but on a phone. We think the digital world gives us many more possibilities," said Basso. With Unique Visitors, the museum does not end with one visit: you can always come back and it’ll be different. One day you can learn medieval iconography, another day you can discover women as artists, or explore new relationships between music and art, etc. The app seeks to provide content that creates surprising cross narratives.
"The CreatiFI experience has been very positive: in addition to the "seed" funding for developing a platform of quality, we could also count on the support of mentors from different specialties who have helped us to better define the project," says Basso.
