The Barcelona Municipal Band to play for free in two very different concerts

The free concerts are for the Sants and Congrés neighbourhood festivals.

The Barcelona Municipal Band is known for the quality of its performances in both classical and contemporary styles and it’s usually difficult to find free performances by the formation. But things are a little different this year thanks to two neighbourhood festivals in which the band will play two very diverse concerts for free.

First of all, the band will be appearing as part of the Sants neighbourhood festival in a concert in Parc de l’Espanya Industrial on 1 September. On this occasion, the repertoire will consist of modern popular music, with songs by ABBA, The Beatles, Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra, among others. The second concert is part of the Congrés neighbourhood festival and is scheduled to take place on 4 October at Parròquia Sant Pius X. The band will be playing classical pieces by Russian composers like Tchaikovsky, Khachaturian and Prokofiev. At both concerts, the Barcelona Municipal Band will be directed by Beatriz Fernández.
