Gustavo Dudamel to open a new season at Palau de la Música

The charismatic director will be conducting the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Despite becoming something of a regular fixture at the Palau de la Música concert hall, his presence never ceases to create excitement. We are speaking about the Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, who has been chosen to direct the first two performances of the 2018-2019 season. Dudamel is scheduled to appear on the 18th and 19th of September leading the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the repertoire of each concert is very different, with the first featuring a composition by Brahms as its central piece and the second showcasing a composition by Mahler.

For the concert on 18 September, before playing Brahms masterpiece - his Symphony No. 4 - the Mahler Chamber Orchestra will play Schubert’s Symphony No. 5, while on 19 September the orchestra will open with Shubert’s Symphony no. 3, followed by Mahler’s Symphony No. 4. The soprano Golda Schultz will participate in this second recital.

Both concerts are scheduled to begin at 8pm. Additional information is available at the following link.
