The triumph of color. Van Gogh to Matisse

More than 70 works from the collections of the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée de l'Orangerie exhibited for the first time in our city, Mapfre Foundation

With this exhibition, the Fundació Mapfre opens its showroom in Barcelona and Casa Garriga Nogues, which was the headquarters of the Fundació Godia, closed in April. Plays up to 72 works from the collection of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris make up this stunning showcase, where roads converge Impressionist painting with edge. 

The triumph of color. Van Gogh to Matisse, raises color as essential axis drift formidable artistic authors such as Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cézanne, those who have their self important, more jobs Seurat, Monet, Derain and Renoir, who exhibited Grand Nude and Nude on a red background by Picasso and Odalisca with red trousers, by Matisse. The last three mentioned works come from the Orangerie Museum.

This exhibition gives us a unique opportunity to see masterpieces in our city that have rarely been exhibited outside the Musee d'Orsay and the Musée de l'Orangerie, which have been provided specially for this occasion.

The show begins with a piece of Van Gogh painting that illuminates through its modern color palette. And from this point leads us to an artistic itinerary that testifies as the paint color exploded after traces of impressionism, while artists moved away from nature to seek a subjective expression.
