Els Tres Tombs

Christmas is over and now it’s time for the Tres Tombs Festival!

For the third year running, this winter festival will be held in the Sant Antoni neighbourhood.

The Sant Antoni neighbourhood festival could be considered to be Barcelona’s winter festival. Many of the city’s neighbourhoods organize their own celebrations at this time of the year and there are always plenty of activities on offer. So three years ago, the city council took the decision to bring together these separate celebrations in a single cycle of festivities under the title Sant Antoni, Els Tres Tombs. This festive cycle, which will extend throughout January, features a mixture of new and traditional activities. Examples of older traditions include the Tres Tombs cavalcade, which has been running for 194 years, and the Sant Andreu cavalcade, which has a history stretching back 92 years. Other activities and events that will take place during the cycle include the Tres Tombs Infernals in Sant Andreu, Foguerons de Sant Antoni de sa Pobla in Gràcia and the Porkada del Clot, which are newer developments. As you will see, there’s something for everyone on the agenda: fireworks, horses, carriages and devils, among other things.

The festival will begin on 11 January with the start of the Tradicionàrius Festival and will conclude on 26 January with the Foguerons. The fun will extend to many of the city’s districts, so look out for events and activities scheduled to take place in your own neighbourhood.

All the activities are free. For more information, check out the festival program.
