A tour around the unknown Gothic
"Secrets of the Gothic" takes us through magic streets to recreate the steps of the ancient Romans, Christians and Jews, during August weekends
Centuries ago, the streets of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona were the first to witness historical events to which we can trace with this route thorugh symbolic but poorly understood streets.
The places that we know with this route were once transited by Romans, Critian knights and Jewish sages. We are in the place where the city was founded, the settlement from where count-kings managed their domains and the Inquisition persecuted heretics.
Walking through the medieval center of Barcelona we attend to the daily life of the guilds and witness the imprint of the Jewish people in the streets, and hence extract the keys to centuries of contrasts: wisdom and superstition, spirituality and violence, brutality and splendor.
