From 20 October to 17 November performances by well-known choreographers and emerging creators will be staged
The 2016 edition of Dansa Ara a La Pedrera is about to begin. It’s a cycle that aims to showcase the great diversity and quality of contemporary dance and includes premieres, unique proposals and performances adapted to their singular environment.
The opening date, on Thursday 20 October at 8pm will feature a double act. The first is Portland by La Veronal, interpreted by Lali Ayguadé. It’s a reflection on the power of contemplation and will be followed by De camino al otro, alos featuring Ayguadé, on stage with Julian Sicard. On Thursday 27 October, the dancer Manuel Rodríguez will perform REM, a work in progress created while he was in residence at the Graner thanks to the support of Fundació Catalunya–La Pedrera and Mercat de les Flors, which will be premiered at the Festival Sâlmon in a version for four performers. A week later, on 3 November, it’s the turn of three emerging talents to present a short piece. On 10 November, Damián Muñoz and Virginia García, also known as La Intrusa, will be staging Best of You. And finally, on 17 November, interpreter and creator Guillermo Weickert will premiere Ganas (Pavan), a solo work that presents a dance of mutations, meanings and impulses, of stories and defeats, of movements between the conscious and the unconscious, to build up, destroy and reconstruct a thousand times the identity of the artist and continue experimenting the energy of artistic creation.
Also bear in mind that midday on Sunday 23 October will be a good moment to take the kids to La Pedrera to see Wabi-Sabi by MONS Dansa, which is also included in the cycle. It tells the story of two unfinished characters who manage to escape from their paper wrapper and devote themselves to freeing all of the thrown-away stories they find to play with them and give them new lives.
