The third Miradocs is coming

Documentary films series brings us non-mainstream films starring Barcelona’s citizens.

For the third consecutive year Casa Elizalde and Barcelona Espai de Cinema (BEC) put into operation a documentary series which looks at the world but also our immediate environment. This is Miradocs, that in 2013 will give you the opportunity to watch documentaries about the L’Aquila earthquake in Italy and a Meccano fair in France, among others, but obviously also about the Raval neighbourhood and the most famous brother in Barcelona.

The series allows the chance to be in the know about films in which our city and its citizens are the protagonists, but also about the work that Barcelona’s filmmakers are carrying out.

You will see it, for instance, in “Som del Raval”, which will be screened on January 16th at 19.30 h and portrays the links and relationships made in the neighbourhood’s street life. On the next day at the same hour you will be able to watch “La senyora que feia senyors”, where the functioning of the famous Mrs. Rius’ brothel is analysed. On Friday, January 25th you will meet “El sastre”, about a pakistani taylor who works in the Raval.

There will also be room for hidden poetry, the memories of gone loved ones, the overcoming of a trauma, the search for answers in the Pyrenees, migration journeys, the observation of nature’s beauty, the life of a traditional peasant and the resistance of a rural spot within a city.

Miradocs 2013 will offer the opportunity, as is customary, of a dialogue and exchange between the audience and creators, which will take place after each screening.
