Llegim al Jardí

There’s no place better for reading than Jardins de Rubió i Lluch

Biblioteca de Catalunya is inviting you to spend a day on its grounds enjoying reading in the open air and taking part in book swaps

While reading may be fundamentally a private act, it can take place in public. In fact, there are plenty of people who enjoy reading outdoors, especially in good weather when the sun provides the best possible reading light. That is especially true of reading in parks. And one of the most impressive places to do some outdoors reading in Barcelona is in Jardins de Rubió i Lluch, which lie around the Biblioteca de Catalunya, Catalonia’s national library.  There, for the last eight years, people have come to celebrate an activity specially designed for readers: Llegim al Jardí.

All you have to do is make your way there with a book in your hand, ready to read. The garden is a solemn, historical site with good lighting and you’ll find tables, chairs and a book lending and swapping service. You’ll also have access to the day’s newspapers and free wifi during the nine hours of the event.

So, if you’re interested in doing some open air reading, here you have a unique setting to do it in. Admission is free. You’ll find more information on the Biblioteca de Catalunya website.
