Tete Anniversary 80+1 in the Jamboree

A tribute to the Barcelona-born pianist will be held on the 27th of March

On the 28th of March this year, renowned Catalonian pianist Tete Montoliu would have celebrated his 81st birthday. The evening before, on Thursday the 27th, a group of musicians will perform in the Jamboree as a means of both continuing Tete’s tradition of organising concerts to celebrate his birthday and to pay tribute to the charisma of the pianist born in l’Eixample in 1933.

The evening will be divided into two separate parts, both of an equally high musical standard. The first half an hour will consist of a performance by a jazz trio especially assembled for the occasion and involving veteran musicians who at some point shared the stage with Tete: trumpet player Josep Maria Farràs, pianist Prancesc Burull and bassist Horacio Fumero.

Following a short break the stage will be handed over to two duets and a top-notch trio: Joan Manuel Serrat and Ricard Miralles, Laura Simó and Francesc Burrull and, finally, Mayte Martín, Lucía and Horacio Fumero, with a repertoire that will include classic songs, boleros and jazz standards. Both Burrull and Fumero will make double appearances.
