The Millennium Festival is staging his Incredible History of Violin
A unique figure among master violinists, Ara Malikian is an iconoclastic musician, who adds large doses of imagination and stage presence to his virtuosity. Now, this Lebanese performer is coming back to Barcelona to present his new show within the framework of the Millennium Festival. The Incredible History of Violin can be seen at Palau de la Música at 9pm on 27 December.
Malikian’s new show makes his own instrument the focus of attention and it becomes a character in every sense of the word. He introduces its origins in Modena, where it was made, and how it came to fall into the hands of a three-year-old boy in Lebanon whose father taught him how to play it.
Together with his violin, Malikian will introduce us to Paganini and other musical icons, as well as making incursions into rock and pop music. In this sense, the show aims to break down the borders between musical styles with a repertoire in which Vivaldi rubs shoulders with bands like Radiohead and Led Zeppelin.
