Surf culture on the silver screen

The Barcelona Surf Film Festival at Barcelona’s Maritime Museum

The Mediterranean may not be the most wave-friendly place to surf in the world, but all of the culture that goes with the sport has had an enormous influence on Barcelona. A symbol of that is the Barcelona Surf Film Festival, which is set to hold its 4th edition from 6 to 9 July in the garden of the city’s Maritime Museum, the ideal location for an event that attracts so many people who are in love with the sea.

Along with the films, visitors to the festival can enjoy a representation of Mediterranean cuisine and a market selling products related to surf culture at #bcnsurfmarket. There will also be a space for music, featuring rock and pop bands with surf influenced styles.

Highlights of the festival include the screening of View from a Blue Moon by John Florence on Friday 8 July, with free admission for the first 300 attendees.
