Thursdays are for films at CaixaForum

'La pazza gioia', 'Tudo Que Aprendemos Juntos' and 'The Big Sick' are among the films to be screened.

Until 30 August, every Thursday evening is movie night at CaixaForum. All of the films in the Un estiu de pel·lícula cycle share the same desire: to tell you some enthralling stories. The cycle kicked off on 5 July with the multi-award-winning Summer 1993, and Thursday 12 July sees the screening of La pazza gioia (Like Crazy), a comedy by Paolo Virzi in which two patients from a psychiatric clinic decide to escape together to recover their freedom.

From Italy we head for Japan. On 19 July, CaixaForum will host the screening of Naomi Kawase’s Sweet Bean, in which an elderly woman applies to start work at a small dorayakis where her recipe for bean paste wins over more and more customers. The film chosen for 26 July is Tudo Que Aprendemos Juntos (The Violin Teacher), a film by Brazilian director Sérgio Machado about a talented violinist who begins to work as a music teacher at a school in a favela  in Sao Paulo.

Thursday evenings in August at CaixaForum will see the screenings of films like The Big Sick on Thursday 2 August, Ce qui nous lie (Back to Burgundy) on Thursday 9 August, Sing Street on Thursday 16 August and Ceyda Torun’s Kedi on Thursday 24 August. The cycle will draw to a close on Thursday 30 August with the screening of Tanna by Bentley Dean and Martin Butler, an Australian feature-length film that takes the story of Romeo and Juliet to the Vanuatu Islands in the South Pacific.

All sessions will begin at 8pm. Additional information is available at the following link.
