Steve Hackett helps to restart the Suite Festival

Following the first two concerts in January and February, the Liceu’s pop and rock music festival is back with some iconic names

When the Suite Festival first started three editions ago, its premise was very simple: concerts in a majestic setting, in this case in the Gran Teatre del Liceu, and popular music from all eras with the big stars that have connected with various generations of fans. That means that the festival has featured everyone from veteran figures like Kraftwerk and Van Morrison to new blood like Katie Melua. The 2017 edition has already seen performances by Bertín Osborne and Hombres G and things are now getting underway again with an appearance by Steve Hackett on 23 March at the Liceu.

Steve Hackett was the lead guitarist for prog-rockers Genesis when they were in their prime back in the 1970s, together with Peter Gabriel on vocals and Phil Collins on drums. Although that version of the band bit the dust in the 1980s, devoted Genesis fans are in luck because Hackett frequently revisits the band’s golden moments, including albums like The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. His new tour, titled Tour Genesis Revisited, therefore sees him digging deep into his musical patrimony, albeit with a new band.

The set list for the Suite Festival concert will basically be focussed on the album Wind and Wuthering, though this 40-year-old album will not be the only material to be presented. The concert will also feature other Genesis period material, as well as some rarities. Tickets for this concert, and for forthcoming appearances by Sílvia Pérez Cruz (17 May) and Status Quo (29 June) are now on sale.
