Sónar 2017

Sónar: a new immersion into electronic sounds

The festival, which is a key event for the international digital avant-garde, is set to celebrate its 24th edition with the same objective as always: showcase the future of music.

The Sónar festival really needs no presentation. During its 24 editions it has been a world reference for technological music, for the connections between machines and feelings, and a space to discover new languages in innovative dance music. And this year’s edition promises to be fresher and more fun than ever. The festival also pays a visit to the past and will host a congress on technology and ideas in the shape of Sónar+D.

This year, Sónar is offering a wealth of sounds from the underground, including the presence of Björk as a DJ on opening day on Wednesday 14 June, followed from Thursday to Saturday by a host of artists that are renewing genres like funk (Anderson .Paak, Thundercat), house (The Black Madonna, Nina Kraviz), abstract electronica (Arca, Evian Christ) and new street languages like trap (Bad Gyal), grime (GAIKA) and footwork (Jlin). In total, the programme features 150 artists who will appear in the traditional venues: Fira Montjuïc for Sonar by day and Fira Gran Via 2 in L’Hospitalet for Sonar by night.

Additional information and ticket sales are available from the Sónar website.
