More than 150 activities and a unique opportunity to experience popular culture!
Popular culture is something that must be experienced first-hand if you really want to understand it and that’s the reasoning behind Som Cultura Popular: Mostra del Patrimoni Immaterial a Barcelona. Here, you’ll find everything from Museu Nòmada, a museum with 35 educational exhibits on popular culture, which, under the guidance of Barcelona’s Ethnographical Museum, displays, in an efficient and attractive way, the cultural richness of Catalonia’s associative and cultural life.
Furthermore, for four days, Som Cultura Popular will play host to some thirty entities from Barcelona, and some twenty more from around the Catalan speaking territories, at the Fabra i Coats and Can Fabra cultural centres in Sant Andreu. This is in addition to a solid programme of short and ethnographic films, more than thirty presentations on subjects as diverse as that of the participating entities – numbering more than a hundred, in an unprecedented exercise in interdisciplinary collaboration – eleven open debates, four conferences, an exhibition of publications and craft products, a gastronomic space with tasting and samplings that is managed by the Gràcia-based El Cargol Graciós and activities organised by the Institut Català de la Cuina.
But since this showcase doesn’t want school-goers and other people involved in popular culture to feel left out, there are plenty of high-profile events scheduled specifically for the weekend at the esplanade of Can Fabra, which will fill with music and dance a space designed for living it up and sharing experiences. Don’t miss this opportunity for getting to know Catalan popular culture through more than 150 activities while having a very good time.
