“Sketches of life: comic artists on tour” combines comic strips and cooperation

On Friday the 31st of October at 7 pm, Sonia Pulido and Miguel Gallardo will present the OXFAM Intermón project in FNAC El Triangle

Viñetas de vida: dibujantes on tour (Sketches of life: comic artists on tour) is the result of the OXFAM Intermón project More and Better Aid. For the event, the NGO, which has been fighting poverty throughout the world since 1956, has gathered together a number of illustrious Spanish comic and comic-book artists and offered them an opportunity to relate their experiences in various parts of the globe.

Paco Roca, Cristina Durán and Miguel A. Giner Bou from the studio La GRUA, David Rubín, Sonia Pulido, Álvaro Ortiz, Miguel Gallardo, Antonia Santolaya and Enrique Flores travelled to seven countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America in an effort to gain first-hand experience of the development projects being carried out by OXFAM Intermón and to produce a series of comics based on their experiences.

Sketches of life: comic artists on tour is currently available on the free mobile phone app Comic on Tour and publishing house Astiberri will be releasing a book containing all the comics towards the end of 2014, including Cristina Durán and Miguel A. Giner Bou’s experiences in Nicaragua, David Rubín’s views on his sojourn in Burundi and Paco Roca’s visit to Mauritania.

On Friday the 31st of October the project will be jointly presented by OXFAM Intermón and artists Sonia Pulido, the author of La Madeja (roughly, The Tangle), which deals with the situation in Colombia, and Miguel Gallardo, who travelled to the Dominican Republic. The event will begin at 7 pm in FNAC El Triangle and entry is free.
