Silent film with live musical accompaniment in the former Sant Pau Hospital

On the 3rd and 10th of October, respectively, pianist Jordi Sabatés will provide live accompaniment to Buster Keaton’s “Sherlock, Jr.” and a selection of works by Segundo de Chomón

The Sala Pau Gil of the modernist complex of the Sant Pau is hosting INÈDIT Films, a film series in which pianist Jordi Sabatés provides live musical accompaniment consisting of both his own pieces and classics from the early 20th century, the era of silent film.

Friday the 3rd of October kicks off the series with Buster Keaton’s Sherlock, Jr., in which the North American comedian plays a young projectionist who dreams of becoming a detective and innocently finds himself caught up in a robbery.

On Friday the 10th, Sabatés will delve into the work of film maker Segundo de Chomón (1871-1919), a Spanish director credited with more than 345 films that feature, among other innovations of the period, the animation of objects, shadows and dolls. The pianist will play his own compositions as accompaniment to fifteen selected works by the film maker.

The series INEDIT Films will take place on the 3rd and 10th of October at 8 pm in the Sala Sant Pau of the Art Nouveau complex in Sant Pau. Normal tickets are priced at 10 euros, though special offers and discounts are available. Tickets may be purchased here.
