The Shopping Night Barcelona pays tribute to the Golden Age of Hollywood

On the 4th of December the Passeig de Gràcia will host the fifth edition of the nocturnal event which attracted more than 70,000 people last year

After just four editions, The Shopping Night Barcelona has become one of the city’s most popular events. Last year more than 70,000 people took to the streets to enjoy an evening in which businesses open late, decorating their windows especially for the occasion, and during which musical entertainment, exhibitions and a host of parallel activities take place on the Passeig de Gràcia and adjoining streets between 8 pm and 1 am. In addition, visitors to the event will be given the opportunity to enjoy the full splendour of the local Modernist and Noucentista architectural jewels, illuminated exclusively for the occasion.

As a novelty this year, The Shopping Night Barcelona, on Thursday the 4th of December, has adopted a very special theme – The Golden Age of Hollywood - and the role of patroness for the event will be performed by none other than Teresa Gimpera, an actress who has appeared in many classic films over the years, including The Legend of Frenchie King and The Spirit of the Beehive.

The Palau Robert, renamed the Robert Theatre for the event, will be the event’s main stage, rolling out the red carpet for the awards ceremony for the evening’s most creative and original establishments. The Jardins de Salvador Espriu, for their part, will become the Jardines Mudos, or Silent Gardens, and will screen a series of silent films with live musical accompaniment.

Other locations worthy of a visit include The Golden Age, on the Passatge de la Concepció, dedicated to Catalan producers and local design, film and acting schools, the Music & Dramas & Divas space, on Carrer Provença, between Passeig de Gràcia and Pau Claris, which will be the stage for the inaugural event, which will feature a series of musical interventions, and Charlie’s Shopping, on the Passeig de Gràcia between Gran Via and Ronda de Sant Pere, which will be transformed into an outdoor market inspired by the classic comedies of Charlie Chaplin.

The Shopping Night Barcelona will take place on and around the Passeig de Gràcia on Thursday the 4th of December between 8 pm and 1 am and access to all areas is free. More information is available here.
