Shakespeare returns to the Parc de l'Estació del Nord

'The Merry Wives of Windsor' will be directed by Marc Rosich

Once again Parking Shakespeare are setting up a stage in Parc de l'Estació del Nord in Barcelona to perform a play by England’s most iconic playwright. The chosen text this year is The Merry Wives of Windsor, which will be directed by Marc Rosich, who has already warned that his production will be “a faithfully free version”. Rosich is also responsible for the Catalan translation, which has freed his hand even more as a director. One example of that is the fact that he has transformed Elizabethan Windsor into a summer holiday resort in which the characters are looking for a good time, trouble and foolery.

Rosich has defined the play as a "spin-off of Henry IV that the bard from Stratford-upon-Avon devoted to the character of Falstaff upon request of Queen Elizabeth". In any case, Shakespeare is always Shakespeare, as you will discover if you head for Parc de l'Estació del Nord from 14 to 31 July. The play is scheduled to begin every day at 7pm (though there will be no show on Wedensdays) and admission is free.
