In September the essential symphonies return

In the Year of Libraries, the Sala de la Caridad will host from September 2 to autumn sensational pieces of Edward Elgar or Aaron Copland, among others

The Library Service of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Biblioteca de Catalunya are jointly organizing this amazing series of musical sessions: "15 essential symphonies", that started in March this year, will make its chords sound again from Thursday September 3.
The sessions, take place from 18h to 20h in the Sala de la Caridad of the Biblioteca de Catalunya, until the close of November 19. They inlclude 15 masterpieces of the symphonic repertoire, in a journey that goes from classicism to a stimulating present.
Bernat Dedéu is the responsible of the cycle, that in its last five latest appointments includes composers like Aaron Copland, Edward Elgar, Dmitri Shostakovich, Olivier Messien, plus the Symphony No. 3 by Witold Lutoslawski, that which serve as epilogue to these musical evenings.
