‘Saul Leiter: In Search of Beauty’

Foto Colectania exhibits the work of Saul Leiter

'Saul Leiter: In Search of Beauty' showcases the work of the precursor of colour photography.

Since 2002, Foto Colectania has been promoting the art of photography, making it known in the social, artistic and educational fields in our country. The institution hosts exhibitions, activities and issues publications that revolve around photography and its communicative ability, as well as its capacity to generate critical thinking. One of the exhibitions planned for this year is 'Saul Leiter: In Search of Beauty', which will showcase a part of the work of this American photographer. With his camera, he managed to capture and interpret the essence of life in New York, both in public situations and in more intimate scenarios. Although he wanted to be a painter, he immediately saw that with photography he could tell other types of stories that were deeply interesting for him. The art of painting, however, continued to influence his entire career. This can be seen in his exquisite use of black and white, and especially in his use of colour photography, of which was one of the precursors.

In the exhibition, which will be held at Foto Colectania from 29 June to 21 October, will feature 130 photographs in both colour and black and white covering the three thematic areas that defined his work: streets, nudes and intimate portraits.

General admission costs €4. Additional information is available at the following link.
