“Rush”, the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda

The film, directed by Ron Howard and set in the world of 1970s Formula 1 racing, opens in cinemas in Barcelona on the 20th of September

Set in the 1970s, the so-called “Golden Age of Formula 1”, the new film by Ron Howard, titled Rush, portrays the rivalry that existed at the time between Englishman James Hunt and the Austrian pilot, Niki Lauda, two of the most important figures in the history of the sport.
 
Rush  mainly focuses on the year 1976, the competitiveness of these two men both on and off the track and the pressure that they put themselves under, leading them both to the limits of their physical and psychological resistance. The film also pays particular attention to the serious accident that Lauda suffered during the competition and which almost killed him.
 
The film is directed by North American film maker Ron Howard, winner of an Academy Award for A Beautiful Mind and the director responsible for other popular films such as Willow, Cinderella Man and The Da Vinci Code. The film also boasts a screenplay by renowned playwright Peter Morgan, who collaborated with Howard on Frost/Nixon.
 
Chris Hemsworth, known above all for his role as Thor in the Marvel superhero saga, is the actor selected to play James Hunt while Daniel Brühl, who has been seen in films of diverse nationality, including German, North American and Catalan, where his mother is originally from, plays the part of Niki Lauda. The film opens in cinemas in Barcelona on the 20th of September.
