Restoration of the walls of the Monastery of Pedralbes

The city council has initiated a crowdfunding process to restore the walls of Sant Miquel's Chapel. Donations may be made until the 3rd of May

Since signing an agreement with the Poor Clares Community in 1972, the Barcelona city council began to take responsibility for the upkeep and restoration of the Monastery of Pedralbes, converting it into a cultural facility for the general population.

Inside the monastery, in Sant Miquel's Chapel, there is a series of frescos representative of the best Trecento tradition, an innovative work which introduces the plastic style representation which originated in Italy around 1300 with Giotto and his followers. The series is dated around the middle of the 14th century and is attributed to Ferrer Bassa. While it is almost complete and intact, it does require restoration.

The city council hopes to be able to perform the complete restoration by implicating the population via a crowdfunding campaign, a possibility for sponsorship through individual donations.

While the greater part of the budget will be paid by the council, between the 24th of March and the 3rd of May, sponsors may make donations through the website www.verkami.com. The objective is to raise 25,000 €.

Sponsors will be offered some advantages, such as special visits to the monastery or invitations to an exclusive concert featuring Jordi Savall, among others.
