Renaud Monfourny’s portraits, in the Institut Francès de Barcelona

The exhibition can be visited until February 8th and collects photographs of the most emblematic personalities in the arts field.

The renowned French photographer Renaud Monfourny is responsible for the photographs that are being exhibited in the gallery of the Institut Francès de Barcelona and which represent more than 25 years of portraits of artists from different disciplines, immortalized in black and white and as they really are or were.

Totally opposed to glamour and cultural consumerism that we can see in celebrities pictures’ of current days, Monfourny, who was the founder of “Les inrockuptibles” magazine, bets on pure photographs, without alterations or filters of social standards, realistic and offering an alternative image of these celebrities.

Some of the famous artists portrayed by Monfourny and whose essence you will be able to see in the “Retrats” exhibition are the multitalented Serge Gainsburg, the actresses Emmanuelle Béart and Monica Bellucci, actor Louis Garrel and writer Marguerite Duras, who are only some of the hundreds of famous people who appear in photographer’s pictures.

The exhibition, collecting a fraction of the work that has made him famous around the world, comes now to Barcelona after being in cities such as Buenos Aires, Tokyo, New York, Thessaloniki and Paris, and you can see it free of charge until February 8th.
