Reading among the trees

The 7th annual edition of 'Let’s read in the garden' at Jardins Rubió i Lluch

People passing casually through Jardins Rubió i Lluch from Monday to Friday, 10am to 7.30pm, may well be startled to come across something unusual: tables and chairs and people reading on them, a book lending service, the chance to leaf through the daily press… Once again the Biblioteca de Catalunya library has taken to the open air for Let’s read in the park, an initiative that is currently celebrating its 7th annual edition. With the support of Barcelona City Council, the programme aims to bring culture to the city’s parks and make them an interesting destination. As, well as serving as a place to read and borrow books, visitors to the park will also be able to connect to the internbet through a free WiFi network and learn all about the history of the old Hospital de la Santa Creu and about the park’s trees and plant life.

The 7th edition of Let’s read in the park is scheduled to run until November, though in its last month the timetable will be reduced since the park closes at 6pm.
