Ramon Casas and contemporary jewellery in a new exhibition at Barcelona’s Museum of Modernism
This ‘artistic dialogue’ can be seen until 16 October
Coinciding with the 8th edition of the Joya Barcelona Art Jewellery Fair and with a year devoted to the figure of Ramon Casas upon the 150th anniversary of his birth, the Museu del Modernisme de Barcelona is hosting an exhibition that ‘confronts’ Casas with 10 artists from around the world who are known for their personal vision of contemporary jewellery. Les Confluences / Les Confluències is curated by the expert in the history of art Nichka Marobin and can be described as a dialogue between the Catalan modernist painter and artistic jewellery.
On display until 16 October, Les Confluences / Les Confluències is a space in which apparently different worlds like those of painting and artistic jewellery engage in a poetic, suggestive conversation, employing diverse technical and cultural elements to illustrate the unquenchable creative ability of the human being.
Barcelona’s Museum of Modernism has demonstrated a major commitment to the year of Ramon Casas, and has already devoted three exhibitions to him. As well as this temporary exhibition, the museum contains a number of works by this key member of the Catalan modernist movement.
