Rafael Casanova tours the Barcelona of 2013

The first minister will speak to the press in civic centres throughout the city about the events that took place in 1714

Fiction and reality go hand in hand in Casanova en directe (Casanova live). In this proposal by Oriol Broggi, based on a text by Marc Artigau, the military leader Casanova will appear in a staged press conference to answer questions posed by journalists and citizens alike. This novel, original format allows for interaction between actors and audience as well as spontaneous participation of the spectators in an attempt to encourage and facilitate light-hearted discussion among those present.

This contemporary representation of a press conference includes the first minister Casanova, played by Xavier Boada, his assistant Mateu, played by Xavier Intente and the conference moderator, Xavier Ricard, and takes the form of an hour-long animated discussion between these characters and the audience.

According to the commissioner of the Barcelona tercentenary celebrations, Toni Soler, the project arose from the necessity to raise public awareness about the events of 1714 and, in conjunction with the exhibition, “1714 l'aposta Catalana”, will tour civic and cultural centres throughout the city.

Casanova en directe is a contemporary and original theatrical production staged by La Perla 29 and is designed to inform the general public about a series of events that changed the course of our history for ever.

All performances are free of charge and seating is limited.
