Quartet Mèlt and other musical activities at La Pedrera

The musical agenda is a hallmark of La Pedrera, one of Barcelona’s most singular sites.

La Pedrera is one of the best known Catalan modernist style buildings in the world and one of Gaudí’s most ambitious constructions. Its artistic value was recognised by it being declared a monument of historical and artistic interest by the Spanish state in 1969 and A World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. La Pedrera has always had a strong musical programme and its Residències Musicals cycle is aimed at promoting young musical talent.

This year among the 23 candidates to take part in the cycle, there emerged six finalists and from them the three resident musicians chosen to perform at La Pedrera this season are pianist Ricard Rovirosa (28 February, 15 May, 6pm), harpist Esther Pinyol (19 June, 6pm), and baritone Josep-Ramon Olivé (20 March and 17 April, 6pm). More information is available here.

Another interesting musical cycle at La Pedrera is Veus Pedrera Endins featuring Quartet Mèlt, the recent winners of the Oh Happy Day gospel choir competition on TV3, who will offer a capella versions of hits like Ton pare no té nas, Papa jo vull ser torero, Royals, Muntanyes de Canigó, Ghostbusters and. They will be appearing on the 26th of February and on the 4th, 11th and 18th of March.
