“Puz/zle”, a dance performance in the Teatre Grec

The piece, by Belgian Sidi Larbi Chekaoui, is a choreographic jigsaw puzzle that serves as a metaphor for life itself

Puz/zle, by Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi Chekaoui and his company, Eastman, is destined to be one of the more revolutionary contemporary dance performances of this year’s edition of Grec. The objective of this kaleidoscopic piece, which represents a giant jigsaw- puzzle-like metaphor for life, is to employ dance as a means of revealing the non-verbal language which hides behind human relationships, as much on an intellectual level as in relation to love, or sex.

This is not the first time that the prestigious choreographer Sidi Larbi Chekaoui has brought one of his pieces to Barcelona. Five years ago he thrilled audiences with Sutra, a performance that shares some common elements with Puz/zle, itself an intense metaphor for human emotions that can be seen in the Teatre Grec on the 15th and 16th of July.

Puz/zle
is pure poetry in motion, an exercise in craftsmanship which, at the same time, is a perfect cultural synthesis where dancers share the stage with musicians from Corsica, Lebanon and Japan.
