Primavera Sound is here again

From the 28th to the 31st of May, the Parc del Fòrum and other locations around the city will host the 14th edition of the springtime music festival

On the evening of Wednesday the 28th of May, in a free-of-charge, pre-festival party in the Parc del Fòrum, one of Barcelona’s most-awaited music events will kick off with six bands preceding the main programme of the 14th edition of Primavera Sound, which itself will see more than 150 bands performing around the city up until the 31st of May.

Over three nights, during which entry tickets are required, the eight stages of the Parc del Fòrum (which includes a new space designed for electronic music proposals) will host performances by The Pixies, Queens of the Stone Age, Caetano Veloso, Arcade Fire, Volcano Choir, The National, Nine Inch Nails, Sun Ra Arkestra and Mogwai. The programme also includes bands from various parts of the world and of diverse musical styles, with an extensive representation of local talent, including Za!, Petit de Cal Eril, DJ John Talabot, Joana Serrat and Standstill, among many others.

In addition, as always, Primavera Sound will extend throughout the city, with Primavera Pro showcases in various parts of the Born Centre Cultural, Primavera als Bars and Primavera als Clubs performances in numerous venues and Els Vermuts sessions in the Parc de la Ciutadella, and all taking place between Friday the 30th of May and Sunday the 1st of June.

In total, the festival will include more than 200 performances as well as this year’s novelty, the Primavera Award, which will be presented in recognition of the professional career of an individual, organisation, or company involved in the music business.
