Primavera Sound 2013

The independent music festival kicks off on the 22nd of May

Primavera Sound is with us once again. The festival marks the beginning of the open air festival season and the objective for this year is to increase the number of attendees and concerts as well as the size of the festival space as compared to last year’s edition. This tendency to increase has been a characteristic of the festival since the first edition in 2001.

With regard to the artists, two of them should probably be highlighted over the others purely for their media impact, namely Blur and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. In an event that programmes over 200 concerts and that has a well-deserved reputation for the quality of its selected artists, however, there is obviously going to be much more, and this edition is no exception:  Phoenix, Grizzly Bear, The Postal Service, James Blake, Tame Impala and the recently rediscovered Rodriguez, for example.

Aside from the main event, which takes place from Thursday the 23rd to Saturday the 25th in the Parc del Forum, there will also be a selection of performances taking place over various days in different parts of the city, such as concerts in the Apolo and the Barts for holders of full festival tickets and free concerts in the Parc de la Ciutadella and, on Wednesday the 22nd in the Forum itself, a related exhibition titled This is not a love song ... not to mention the warm-up concerts Primavera als Bars, which have been taking place for some weeks now and which finish on Saturday the 18th.
