Primavera in the Neighbourhoods

Primavera Sound takes music to the neighbourhoods

Before the festival proper begins, the 'Spring in the neighbourhoods' programme takes music to Barcelona's neighbourhoods.

As well as being an enormous festival with an amazing line-up of band, Primavera Sound also aims to stay local and closely involved in the cultural fabric of Barcelona. Ever since it began it has been implementing programmes such as Primavera in the Park, Primavera in the Metro and Primavera in the Neighbourhoods, based on the idea that music should also reach out to local people by moving outside the usual circuits of venues and going where they live. This year's Primavera in the Neighbourhoods programme features five free concerts taking place every Thursday in May in a different neighbourhood in the city: La Llacuna del Poblenou, Sant Adrià de Besós, Congrés, Poble Sec and Gràcia. Each concert sees performances by two musicians from Barcelona and the first date, at 7.30pm on 3 May at Centre Cívic Parc Sandaru de El Parc i la Llacuna del Poblenou, features Muñeco i Pivot.

The other concerts on the programme are MC Buseta and Maní Picao at the Casal de Cultura in Sant Adrià de Besós on 8 May, Medalla and Malachi Estéreo at Centre Cívic Can Clariana Cultural de Congrés i Indians on 10 May, Cor Blanc and Goiko at Centre Cultural Albareda de Poble Sec on 17 May, and finally, One Path and Nu Drama at Espai Jove la Fontana in Gràcia on 24 May.
