“Post-Picasso: Contemporany Reactions”, in the Museu Picasso

The exhibition explores Picasso’s influence on contemporary art through the work of 41 artists of various nationalities

Up until the 29th of June, the Museu Picasso is hosting an exhibition entitled Post-Picasso: Contemporary Reactions. Produced by the museum itself and curated by international specialist Michael Fitzgerald, the exhibition examines the response of contemporary artists to the life and work of Pablo Picasso during the forty years after his death and reveals the conclusive influence of the Malaga-born artist on contemporary art.

The exhibition includes a total of 58 pieces, many of them post-2000, by 41 international artists from Africa, the Middle East, the Far East, Europe and the Americas, and is divided into five sections, representing the perspectives of the various artists. Two of the sections are dedicated to Picasso’s most famous works, the Guernica and Les Demoiselles d-Avignon, while the other three focus on his later surrealist works and pieces from his blue and pink periods.

In addition, there will also be a family workshop and a series of three conferences presented by experts in the field.
