Once again, the 'Òpera en Ruta' program is ready to make the rounds of the district with a mission: to put opera within everyone's reach.
For many people, opera is the genuine music of the people, appreciated by citizens of all kinds - and, above all, by the popular classes - for centuries. But there are also those who believe that this link has been broken and that opera has become a rarefied and distant art-form. The Opera en Ruta program aims to be a synthesis of these two ways of thinking: on the one hand, it's based on the idea that opera is a passion able to engage with everyone, but one the other hand, at the present time, which is so saturated by all kinds of music, you need a little learning to put things within people's reach. In line with that approach, for over a week, the district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi will witness some frenetic operatic activity as the program takes music to spaces such as Plaça del Consell de la Vila, Casa Orlandai, Biblioteca Sant Gervasi – Joan Maragall and other civic centres like Vil·la Florida, Sarrià and Vallvidrera –Vázquez Montalbán.
Among the activities on offer in the final stretch of the program, which will end on 16 May, you have the following: today, for example, you'll find plenty of family and children-oreiented activities at the Centre Civic Casa Orlandai, Vallvidrera - Vázquez Montalbán and at Biblioteca Clarà, and there will also be small concerts based on works by Mozart, Rossini and the genre of cabaret at Can Castelló, Centre Civic Pedro Pruna and Espai Putxet. Next week, the most interesting events are two conferences on opera and cinema (on Tuesday 15th at Biblioteca Josep Miracle) and the composer Rossini (on Wednesday 16th at Biblioteca Clarà), and the highlight of the week will be at 8pm on Saturday at Teatre de Sarrià, with a full production of Rossini's L'inganno felice.
