Open Extra 1714
Over the last two weeks of November nine tours have been programmed in which participants may observe the transformations in the city from 1714 to the present day
Following the success of 48H Open House BCN, during which more than 150 buildings of all types opened their doors over the weekend of the 19th and 20th of October, the same organisers have programmed a series of architectural tours relating to the tercentenary of 1714.
During the last two weeks of November, Open Extra 1714 has programmed a series of nine guided tours highlighting the architectural and urbanistic transformations in the city from 1714 to the present day, taking in the urban model for the city from medieval times up to the present day and including the Austrian, or Hapsburg, era.
The initiative is divided into three sections entitled Empremta (Footprint) 01, 02 and 03, in reference to the Ciutadella, Barri de la Ribera and Barceloneta districts. Three tours have been programmed within each of these sections, the first of which relates to the 1714 environment, the second to subsequent transformations and the third to the current situation.
Participants may take in one or more itineraries at a cost of 12 euros each. The itineraries include a specialist tour guide and consist of a tour of the corresponding urban area and entrance to a building that holds particular significance for the district and historical period in question.
