Night at the MNAC on 15 July

The museum is preparing a night complete with guided visits and music, dance and circus performances.

15 July will be open night at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) from 8pm to 1am.Admission to the museum will be free of charge and there will be a host of complementary activities as well, which we will explain about below.

From 8pm on, guided visits will be touring around the pieces in the museum’s permanent collection. In Room 78 (Modern Art) the visitor will find the video-installation Olympia by David Claerbout, an activity that is linked to the Loop Festival. Also in the collections of Modern Art, there will be a display of comic strips in poster format, an installation that takes the title From Comic Strip to Comic Strip.

The Marxing Dixie Band, from Taller de Músics, will be performing at various spots in MNAC throughout the night, and dance fans will be interested in knowing that there are two performances scheduled for 9:30pm and 11pm. They will be peformed by IT Dansa of the Institut del Teatre, who will be staging Whim, Fractured Fairytale scene, a piece that recreates the emotional journey that is life. Circus acts will also be present at the museum for one night. The Ateneu Popular 9 Barris will be performing two numbers: Kerol: Welcome to My Head, with juggling and a beatbox, and Enric Prat: Total Submission, with vertical bar routines.

This will also be an excellent opportunity to see the exhibition Ismael Smith,the beauty and the monster, which will be at MNAC until September, and also to buy gifts in the museum shop, which will be offering special discounts.
