On 21 May, between 7.00 pm and 1.00 am, over eighty centres and sixty collections will be opening their doors free of charge during the ninth edition of A Night at the Museum.
On 21 May, between 7.00 pm and 1.00 am, the city's museums invite you to join them for their big evening: the ninth edition of A Night at the Museum.
Over eighty centres in Barcelona, Badalona, Cornellà, Esplugues, l’Hospitalet, Sant Adrià de Besòs and Santa Coloma de Gramenet will be offering visitors the chance to discover more than sixty temporary exhibitions and permanent collections. During A Night at the Museum, there will be concerts, performances, guided tours, shows, workshops and activities for the whole family, offering a unique and special insight into the museums.
A Night at the Museum 2016 includes some new names, such as the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, the Fundació Ramón Pla Armengol, Palau Güell and a new space at the Museum of Badalona: the Water Conduit. Three centres are re-joining A Night at the Museum: the Botanical Garden, the Museu Etnològic de Barcelona and The Gaudí Exhibition Center – Museu Diocesà de Barcelona.
A Night at the Museum 2016 is working with Barcelona's Creation Factories through Creation & Museums, an initiative that enables visitors to see artistic productions in the different artistic disciplines at the creation factories, designed especially for the museum or the heritage space where they are to be held.
The Gabinet Postal, owner of the Ramon Marull stamp collection, will be taking part in A Night at the Museum for the first time. Six of the city's museums will be exhibiting large-format reproductions of stamps from this unique collection.
A Night at the Museum is a Council of Europe initiative in which over four thousand museums from forty countries in Europe will be taking part.
A photography competition will be held during A Night at the Museum on Instagram and Twitter. To take part, you first need to register on this website and label your photographs using the #bcnesmuseu hashtag. All the information about the photograph competition is available at this link.
