Every year Museum Night attracts more visitors

The night that Barcelona’s museums don’t sleep

Reserve the date because on the night of 20 May the city’s museums will be buzzing with activities.

The 10th edition of Night at the Museums now has a definite time and date: from 7pm to 1am on Saturday 20 May. And the participating museums are also beginning to outline the activities they have planned for the event, which promise to be as varied as the city’s museums themselves and which will be published in full in a few days’ time.

Museum Night is an initiative promoted by the Council of Europe in which about 4,000 centers in 40 countries are involved. It’s growing year by year in Barcelona: in 2015 the event attracted some 150,000 people, and last year that figure rose to 190,000. Eighty-three museums in the city and its metropolitan area opened its doors for free and most of them also organized activities that ranged from guided tours and theatre visits to performances, concerts and workshops. Young and old alike will find activities that will allow them to spend a great night out.

In short, it’s an evening for enjoying all the culture that awaits you in the city’s museums and, if you want to share your experiences on social networks, you can do so using the hashtag #bcnésmuseu.
