Born at Night

A new look at El Born on a nocturnal visit

In July and August the Born market building will be open for nocturnal visits featuring music, exhibitions and a very special atmosphere

Paying a visit to the Born market, where you’ll find the Cultural and Memorial Centre, is a great way of exploring Barcelona’s past, from the remains of the Roman city to more recent times. And now, we have another way of visiting the site in the shape of Born de Nit. The programme basically consists of occasional activities that will take place during the last round of visits, including access to certain exhibitions, for a select group of visitors who will have the chance to enjoy the place in the evening hours with no-one else around.

That’s all possible because during the summer months the market will be one of the venues of the Mas i Mas Festival, which will fill the city with the sounds of jazz and flamenco and which, during the summer, features a number of concerts in the museum complex that will begin at 8pm. On Saturday 29 July there will be an appearance by El Alfonso de Vilallonga & Marco Mezquida, featuring a blend of song and jazz, while Sunday 30 July will see a concert by pianist Nelsa Baró. The full programme also includes appearances in August by Celeste Alías and Txell Sust. You’ll find more information on the Mas i Mas Festival website.

The centre will also host exhibitions such as  ‘Barcelona 1700. De les pedres a les persones’, with evening visits from 6pm to 7.30pm. You’ll find more information on the centre’s website.
