A new edition of Phenomena, with "Innerspace" and "Willow"

Directors Joe Dante and Ron Howard produced two of the most popular films of the latter part of the 80s

‘A generous session of small proportions’ is how the new edition of Phenomena Experience presents itself. On this occasion the edition is dedicated to two films replete with action, magic and adventure – Innerspace and Willow. The two films will be shown in a double session on the 12th of April in the Palau de Congresos de Catalunya, the home of the series for the last few years. The classic film sessions will be shown in conjunction with other unpublished films that the Phenomena Première film company continues to present in the Cinemes Comèdia.

The first of the films proposed for this coming Friday in the Palau de Congresos, Innerspace, is one of the most successful films of Joe Dante, director of The Howling and Gremlins, among others. Released in 1987 and produced by Steven Spielberg, the film is a science-fiction adventure comedy starring Dennis Quaid, Martin Short and Meg Ryan. Quaid plays a pilot who volunteers for an experiment which consists of shrinking him inside a capsule which is then introduced into the interior of a rabbit. However, some criminals try to appropriate the invention and through misfortune the pilot ends up inside a hypochondriacal human. A spectacular film that won the Academy Award for Best Special Effects.

Willow, on the other hand, has been one of the fantasy adventure films that has been most fondly remembered since its premiere in 1988. Produced by George Lucas and directed by Ron Howard, who would later win the Academy Award for Best Director for A Beautiful Mind, Willow is a lively tale of witchcraft and swordfights that served as a step to stardom for the principle actor, Warwick Davis. In the castle dungeons of the sorceress and vile queen Baymorda, a prisoner gives birth to a baby girl who, according to an ancient prophecy, will put an end to the queen’s reign. The midwife attempts to save the baby from the wrath of Baymorda but eventually has no choice but to cast the cradle into the river. Thanks to the current the girl arrives at a village of dwarves where she is rescued and adopted by brave Willow.
